My happy place is helping others – and also writing, learning, singing, being at home, with people I love, with animals, or in nature – so, rather than a single happy place, I have a whole collection of them.
This makes it fairly easy for me to find my happy place.
And recently, I discovered a way to make my happy places a way to help other people find their happy places in a very specific way – which makes me happy, too!
For the past couple of years, I’ve been helping small business owners by creating or collaborating with them to create the content and copy they need for their business. This looks different for every client, because each one has very specific needs. For one, I create in-depth blog posts, often over 2,500 words. Many of them require a good deal of research. I’m also currently moving through posts that are nearly a decade old, updating and making them useful in new ways.
For another, I created Instagram posts with graphics that supported her art and her brand. It was a fun challenge. I learned to create in Canva, and to read and translate her style in the copy I wrote to go with the graphics.
If only I found writing my own copy and content as simple a matter – but human nature is for us to get bogged down in our own “stuff” and not be able to do objectively for ourselves what we actually earn our income doing for others (like the contractor whose own home repairs and renovations take years, if they ever happen at all).
For myself, I rely on a copy coach and friends with discerning eyes to help me see the things I miss.
For my clients, I can be the one who helps lift them out of the bogs they get caught in – and I’ve found a whole new happy place doing this.
There’s just something so gratifying in getting to know someone, learning what her vision and mission are for her business, and then being a part of helping her to create what she needs to get there. Because I only work with heart-centered biz owners and creatives, I know I’m also making the world a tiny bit better by helping these amazing people share their magick with the people who need it.
When I go through their documents and offer insights and suggestions on how they can improve and refine what they have to make their voices clearer, when we brainstorm together via email and Zoom, I get a feeling that I’m doing what I was meant to do. Plus, I get to share in the excitement they feel when things come together in ways they weren’t expecting, but which sing with their truth.
I’ve been testing this program out with women from my group biz coaching cohort so far, but I’m about to take a deep breath and offer it to the wider world. And that is truly a happy place for me!
