Building Momentum: #ROW80/#12WeekYearR1Y6EOW11

Hey there!

When I checked in on Wednesday, I reported that I was starting to find my way back to a routine.

While my final numbers for this week certainly show that it’s still very much a work in progress, there’s more to the story.  I engaged consistently with my goals over the course of this week, but something deeper and more valuable happened, too …

I listened to myself. When my mind was no longer willing or able to focus on work, I let it rest. When my body wasn’t eager to be up and moving, I let it rest.

A few months ago, I posted about finding my threshold – the place where I can do a reasonable and sane amount of work, rather than trying to achieve measurable results in every waking moment (which I would of course maximize in the holy name of Getting Things Done).

This feels better. This feels saner. I feel more peaceful – and more productive in all areas.

Less really might be more!

There’s a new sense of ease and possibility here… like walking on the Oregon coast in early spring.

  1. I definitely need balance in my life! I am still trying to figure out a routine for work that won’t have me working late nights anymore. Hopefully I will figure that out soon. It sounds like you’re on your way. 😉

    Nice work this round!

    • Well….

I kind of petered out before the end of the round. The shower situation and the freelancing took more out of me than I expected.

I’m fleshing out some more specific and attainable goals for this round, and now that I have a working shower and templates for all of the meetings I need to write about, I should be in much better shape this round.

I hope you find that balance you’re looking for, Erin!

    • I kind of lost my steam, but thank you anyway.

I was impressed by the simplicity of your goals. I’m always amazed by people who can focus on just a few things. My mind seems to need to dart from here to there to back again – which presents a whole other set of challenges!

  2. Learning to listen to the body can be a challenge. The brain more so sometimes, especially when you know it like to lie to you(as mine does…”no one even cares what you have to say. You might as well not even do anything.” yeah, thanks, brain. I love you, too. :p). But, it looks like things are going well for you with this.

    • I’m feeling better after a week off….well, more than a week, really….

And I care a great deal what you have to say, so….hush, Fallon’s naughty brain, and put that naughtiness where it belongs. On. The. Page!

    • Well…

There’s balance, and there’s knowing when to stop for a while and recharge. That’s where I ended up as the round wound down.

But thank you for your kind words! =)

    • It didn’t end as badly as I thought it might, but it ended sooner than intended. I just couldn’t do much of anything writery for a couple of weeks – but my house is cleaner, and that’s a plus!

I so know what you mean about the work in progress. Seems like it’s something I need to learn, relearn, learn again and on and on….

  3. Thank you, Shan Jeniah, for that lovely reminder to stay balanced in all things — and to listen for those times when we need to NOT work on goals. May the coming week be good to you!

    • It was good to me, but not so good to the goals list.

Looking back, my goals for last round weren’t very specific – and I did have the whole month-long shower debacle and the surprise freelancing gig in the mix, too…

I’m making things much more specific for Round Two!

And, as always, it’s lovely to see you here!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
