Embracing 2019: 12 Week Year 6/ROW80 Round One Goals

row80logocopy (1)

Hey there!

Yup, it’s that time again – time for a new 12 Week Year, a brand new Round of Words in 80 Days … and a brand new year.

For me, that also means it’s time to unveil a new #oneword to guide me through the next 365 days. This year, my word is EMBRACE.

I intend to embrace all of life – the joys and the sorrows, the highs and lows. The order and the chaos, lovely and otherwise.

Along with that, I embrace possibility, including the possibility of creating a life that is only a vague dream right now.

Which means embracing a new set of goals and targets.

How do you welcome a new year?
If you choose one word to define your year, what is yours?

Sometimes order makes sense,  and other times it’s the physics of dirty knives!

This Year/round, I have 6 goals, broken down into 55 targets.

  1. Nice to meet another fan of the 12-week year. My TWYs start a month out of sync with the RoW80 rounds, but the system is still useful.

Your goals are very well organised, and you seem ready to tackle them.

    • Since I started ROW80 years before I learned about 12 week years, it made sense to do mine to coincide with the rounds. It’s not perfect, but it does line up very well.

Last round, I went through the process methodically for the first time. I didn’t quite get to setting up my “perfect week”, and I skimped on the Week 13 review, but I learned a tremendous amount, and accomplished a good deal!

Nice to have someone else to chat with about it. =D

    • Lila!

It’s so good to see you again! It’s been a while!

It seems like a long list, but much of it is built upon things I’m already doing, and all of it will become scaffolding for future goals.

I’m aiming to achieve 85% of what’s on this list. That will be enough to lay a solid groundwork for the next stages in my Grand Plan (insert evil cackle here!)

  2. Nice goals, especially as they cover life in its entirety and help remember it’s not only about writing.
Good luck with everything Shan! 😊

    • Thank you, Julie!

As an unschooling mom of nearly 11 years, I’ve long since learned that everything is connected. Just as my kids don’t break down the things they learn into subject areas, I can’t easily separate writing and life. It’s in everything, and everything is in it.

      May your round go swimmingly!

  3. Something I always love about your goals, Shan… your goals are always connected to something higher. They’re steps in a journey, a process, not always an end in themselves. Love it!

    • Thank you. I do have longer term visions for life, and I want the things I’m doing today to get me closer to them.

It helps me a lot to reverse engineer from there, rather than picking goals more or less out of the blue, the way I used to. It’s a lot easier to be motivated when I know what these steps are building toward.

      • I was just writing my own “goals post” based on a similar concept. It’s too easy, imho, to get caught in the doing doing doing and not the living…and yet we’re the challenge that knows its members have a life. Giving a place for life matters.

        • In the end, life is all we have. It matters. It’s everything.

I’m glad you’re honoring that in a time when so much in yours is changing. ❤
