Endings and Beginnings: Non- #ROW80 /#12WeekYear End of Week 12

Hi there, ROWers and friends!

Last Wednesday, I wrote about settling-in and new possibilities as I scrambled the end of ROW80 Round One.

Since then:

  • The round ended, but I was busy with my presentation for my first meet the author event, so this is the first I’ve returned here to update. Here’s my portion of the program (transcript available soon on my Patreon page).
  • I’ve moved forward a bit with taxes, and considerably with the life insurance claims.
  • I’ve laid the footing for that new possibility. Still not ready to talk about it, but maybe before too long.
  • I’ve been preparing for the visit of a dear friend I haven’t seen in far too long.
  • Spring is officially here, and the earth is gradually warming and softening.
  • And now My second 12 Week Year is also complete, so I’ll be spending the rest of the month wrapping up some loose ends, preparing for the Blogging from A-Z Challenge, April CampNaNoWriMo, and developing goals for Round 2/12 Week Year 3 – the first full quarter since Jim’s death.

How about you?

Did you reach your first quarter goals?

What’s on tap for the next?

Blue with Overstrike: Goal Completed.

Green:  In Progress.

Black: Still Waiting.

Black with Overstrike: 86ed.

Red: Goal Change.

Round One Self-evaluation of each category appears after its heading.

 Relationships, Family, and Home:

Overall, I did fairly well in this category, despite the challenges of Jim’s illness, death, and the aftermath.

Complete homeschool reports and submit.  Week 11.

Facilitate Miah’s driving practice; four times weekly. Week 12.

  • 5/4; including learning how to put air in a soft tire.
  • Progress: 100%.

Move bedroom furniture to better accommodate nurse visits; deep clean as I go; ask for help from kids as needed.  Week 1.

Use one-on-one time to touch base with both kids. Week 12.

  • This continues to be a strength.
  • Progress: 100%

Set aside a few minutes five days weekly to arrange facilitation of needs. Week 12.

  • Each day this session, for more than 5 minutes. Hometending; shopping; facilitating interests/goals; and plenty of financial administration.
  • Progress: 100%.

I consistently did well here.

Focus on at least ten minutes with some combination of family members in common spaces daily. Week 12.

  • Every day this week; between home and erranding.
  • Progress: 100%.

Gather and consider how to make our home a sweeter place. Week 12.

  • More hometending discussions.
  • Progress: 100%

This was a difficult area for me; the concrete realities of Jim’s illness and death were a mountain range, and I managed a molehill at a time – at best. More stability at end of round.

Inventory sauces; get count on what/how many labels needed: Due Week 3.

  • I finally got all but the few loose bottles inventoried – and, since I’ve decided not to deal with those at the moment, I’m calling this one DONE AT LAST!!!!
  • Progress: 100%

Go through checking account and insurance policy info; make list of monthly/quarterly bills and due dates: Due Week 4.

  • More progress, incrementally, on life insurance and listing – phone app gives a better real-time sense of auto-payments Jim set up. Taking far longer than expected.
  • Progress: 95%

Pay Jim’s back sales taxes; find out how to dissolve business. Due Week 6.

  • Found  paperwork that may lead to  (eventually) meeting this goal.
  • Progress: 50%.

Do (or delegate) our taxes: Due Week 10.

  • Started the process at last.
  • Progress: 50%.

Create a base family budget for the kids and I: Due Week 12.

  • Didn’t finish, but did get a much better sense of where we are, and what our financial needs are likely to be going forward.
  • Progress: 80%

Focus on learning via the courses I already have in progress: Week 12.

  • Progress: 65%.

Work on beta projects I’ve agreed to as opportunity arises. Week 12.

  • A bit of work on current chapter-in-progress of Stained Blood.
  • Progress: 100%.

Keep in touch with other writers   reading blogs; commenting; participating in sprints and blog hops as I am able: Week 12.

  • Sprints as possible; A Little Higher for WiPpet Wednesday.
  • Progress: 100%.

Did a bit better here than with the above section.

Make lists of things we could use help with, as we think of them. Week 12.

  • Progress: 80%

Ask both kids for ideas at least weekly. Week 12.

  • Progress: 100%

Pair lists with those willing to help at least weekly. Week 12.

  • Many new ideas.
  • Progress: 100%

Seek out someone(s) with good organizational skills who can coordinate as/when needed. Week 12.

  • Progress: 10%

When someone offers general assistance, be ready with ideas. Week 12.

  • Jumped on an unexpected opportunity.
  • Progress: 100%

Body, Mind, and Soul:

This was a strong area throughout the quarter.

Watch Star Trek: Enterprise whenever possible; join in Twitter live chat at #AllStarTrek. Weeks 12.

  • Each night.
  • Progress: 100%

Resume taking pictures, beautifying our home, drawing, coloring, singing, and other activities that I enjoy, as opportunities arise. Week 12.

  • Fixer Upper; Cake Mania; lunch with Miah;  Hanilton singing.
  • Progress: 100%

Experiment with Instant Pot weekly. Week 12.

  • Progress: 50%.

Keep eyes open for likely recipes. Week 12.

  • Progress: 100%

Use Ninja for food prep once weekly. Weeks 7-12.

Alternate days of restful focus with more active days. Week 12.

  • I think so, but was distracted from conscious planning for this.
  • Progress: 100%.

Listen to my body, mind, and soul, and follow their leads to adjust accordingly.  Week 12.

  • I continued to do well here.
  • Progress: 100%

A very strong area – probably what saved my sanity this round.

Follow a morning routine when possible. Weeks 812.

Use quiet moments as they present themselves. Week 12.

  • Yes – they were perfect for developing my presentation.
  • Progress: 100%.

Make a practice of being present- right here, right now. Week 12.

  • Oh, yes!
  • Progress: 100%.

Prioritize time and connection with my beloveds over busy-ness. Week 12.

  • Yup!
  • Progress: 100%.
