Wobbling Foundations:  ROW80/12 Week Year Week 11 Final:

It’s Sunday again*, and that means it’s time for a ROW80/12 Week Year Update.

*Well…it WAS Sunday when I originally wrote this. It’s now the waning hours of Wednesday, and I’ve yet to get it finished and posted.

Week 11 was when life took it over, and I wrote no new words…I’m not sure I even wrote in my journal all week. Sometimes life (and impending death) are far more important.

Have you ever set your writing aside to deal with Real Life?

Did it work?

How did you feel?

Relationships, Family, and Home:

Beta Reading:

One chapter of either Spellfire’s Kiss or Stained Blood each week, as possible: Weeks 11-12

Complete three hometending rounds each in bedroom; porch; and study: Weeks 1112.

  • Study is being repurposed as a game room for the kids, since I really haven’t been using it. The lack of a window is a detriment to me; but will be a benefit to them – and the space is out of the main traffic flow, which our living room is not.

Complete one hometending round bathroom; family room; kitchen; and living room each week. Week 1112.

  • >1/1 for all.

Create plan to liquidate/publicize liquidation: Weeks 11-12.

  • Brainstorming alone, and with Jim.
  • Week 11 progress: about 10%

Body, Mind, and Soul:

The Big Scary Thing:

Spend the time needed to learn and adjust to the reality of Jim’s condition, and to deal with the circumstances as they evolve: Weeks 11-12.

  • A week of changes that began with Jim in the hospital, and ended with him home and enrolled in hospice care…the final stage of our journey together has commenced.
  • Week 11 goal: COMPLETED.

Seek and accept help as needed/offered.  Also seek out those willing to help organize, because it’s hard for me to think about that while focusing on Jim, the children, and myself: Weeks 11-12.

  • Slowly finding our “new new normal” and pulling things together.
  • Week 11 goal: COMPLETED.

Fitness and Health:

Listen to my body, mind, and soul, and give them the types of exercise, stretching, and challenge they need in trying times:  Weeks 1112.

  • Week 10 progress: 10%

The Writing Challenge That Knows You Have A Life!

ROW Along, or Cheer Us On!

We’re On Facebook, Too!

  1. It’s so important to put writing on the back burner when dealing with something like what you’re dealing with! I hope you and your family have a joyous Christmas.

    • I fear it’s slipped from the back burner at the moment, and is kicking around somewhere behind the stove…it just seems like every day runs out while I still have about 2 days’ worth of things to tend to.

But I plan to get my ROW80 post for yesterday finished tonight, and find at least 10 minutes of writing time before I sleep. And maybe a stormy, snowy tomorrow will offer a great excuse for more wording, since the day trip Miah and I had planned isn’t one I want to make in bad weather…

On the plus side, I am now at a 2-day streak for getting back to my Zen quote joournaling. Only a few lines a day, but that’s better than I had been managing for the last week or so.

Thank you for the Christmas wishes, Anna. I hope your Hannukah was similarly blessed. We’re creating all the joy we can muster this year – we want many wonderful memories to look back on in the hard times.

  2. You’re devoting your energy to where it needs to be focused. Though… in answer to the “have you ever stopped writing to deal with RL?” Yes… and it took some time and lot of refocusing to find my way back to the words. But your journey is your own… hopefully you’ll find yourself exactly where you need to be when you need to be there.

    • I feel like I need to write. Starting today, once yesterday’s ROW80 post is up, I’m going to be focusing on getting at least 10 minutes a day for just that purpose. If I follow my typical pattern, that will help me get grounded and find more time.

I could sit next to Jim and write while he watches TV and we chat, but lately, by the time I can settle myself to do that, my acuity is gone. It’s just that there are so many things to think about and prepare for – for now, and for later – that my brain usually feels so overfull it’s leaking out the sides….

Hugs to you during this difficult stretch of days.

      • I can imagine how full each moment, each cell must be… thoughts upon thoughts, upon ideas, upon… Well, may your ten minutes bring you a space to retain yourself and be the stable base from which you can build your future. Because… I cannot imagine you without words, without dreams and visions and characters… They are as much a part of who you are as anything I’ve known about you. And likely more so…

    • Thanks.. Fallon. It’s coming together. I know there will be lots of adjustments ahead, and the ability to organize a writing life may fade in and out for a while, but I’m starting to be better able to go with the flow of it all, and that’s a blessing in itself.

      Hugs gratefully accepted, and reciprocated!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
