Hi there!
Things have moved along in these last days of the round.
I signed over the title to my car Monday night, and my Accomplice cleaned it out and officially surrendered it Tuesday. It’s sad – and it’s not. This opens us to the possibility of a new-t0-us car, something my Accomplice won’t need to mechanic. He can do it, but he doesn’t enjoy it. And, as the years pass, it becomes more painful for him.
I’d rather wait a while longer to have a second car, and get something a little newer, and in better shape, than our remaining Subaru.
In other news, this is the last official check-in of Round Two – but, since the round doesn’t officially end for me until local midnight, my final update will post on Sunday. Also, since I work a set of monthly goals, I’ll be continuing on with those until month’s end, and update those in early July – wow….July again already! By the end of the second week of the month, I will be the mother of two teenagers…and I’m so excited! =D
Life is blooming in new directions. Some we planned for, while others were unexpected. But that’s the nature of life, and so on I go!
What surprises did life have for you, this round?

2017 Goals
Drafting:
- JuNoWriMo: Write 50,000 words of raw material for blog posts. 34,344/50,000 words. Primary goal a little above target.
- Play with fiction writing as/if desired. Did a snippet of new writing for my upcoming WIPpet post. Secondary goal on target.
Plotting:
- JuNoWriMo: Plot/outline blog posts as needed to complete the drafting goal above. Several posts plotted/outlined. Secondary goal ahead of target.
Revising:
-
Holly Lisle’s How to Revise Your Novel: Complete Lesson 3 (in progress; check beginning point) using “On Any Tuesday Night” as my WIP. Skim Lessons 4 and 5; make decision regarding how much I can reasonably take on, and set an endpoint for this month’s progress. Found my beginning point: Scene 4, p. 10. Organized materials; cleaned workspace for efficiency. Notes for Scenes 8-18 completed (p.62/82 in progress). Primary goal on target.
Social Media:
-
Blogging: Revise/polish/package relevant blogposts in order to return to a regular blogging schedule. Designate reblogged/repurposed posts or work ahead to cover July’s schedule. Posting has gotten closer to par, with two posts scheduled to post later in the week; and two more in development. Primary goal on target.
-
Continue in Twitter #writingcrew and #AllStarTrek sprints/chats regularly. Dabble in other social media (LinkedIn, Medium, Quora, Wattpad) if/as desired. Sprints Sunday-Tuesday AM; chat Sunday; read a bit on Quora. Stretch goal on target.
Business:
-
Create a writing business plan using this excellent article by Angela Ackerman as a guide. Step 4/7 in progress. Primary goal on target.
- Assist my Accomplice with his labeling/branding/platform/marketing (if this is scary for me; it’s completely alien to him). Designed Pequeno Diablo/ Tropical Tickler labels. Printed Heaven and Hell Batch 2 labels Simmering/discussing thoughts for POS marketing and platform creation – those will likely begin a bit later this week. Secondary goal on target.
-
Complete Build Your Marketing Muscles class; simmer; draft an action plan to apply what I’ve learned, and experiment with early changes/additions to my currently nearly non-existent “marketing plan.” Finished up all the course materials I missed during the “live” session. Simmering prioction plan. Stretch goal.
Tending goals:
-
Hometending: Spend time at least 5x/week in mindful cleaning and/or yardtending; complete all homeschool paperwork and testing; deal with subscriptions and other business that tends to get pushed aside; support other indie writers as I’m able. Mindful cleaning: 3/5 (brief sessions). Ran Twitter sprints for #JuNoWriMo.
-
Selftending: Spend time with my beloveds, friends, and myself; get at least one hour of physical activity 5x/week, and five hours of strenuous activity weekly (including Baby Steps to 5K); meditate and journal 8x/week. Meditation/journaling 3/8. Hour; 1/5; Strenuous: 45 minutes/5 hours. Not much sleep leads to not much activity, and so does lots of heat. Write-in and time with each beleved; writing, meditating, journaling for me.
-
Lifetending: Continue developing professional goals and connections; reading and audiobook listening, and The Star Trek Chronology Project. Onward w/group; #JuNoWriMo; business plan Audiobook The Upside of Your Dark Side; chapter4/8 in progress.

ROW Along, or Cheer Us On!
We’re on Facebook, too!
Looks like a lot of good progress there even with some surprises thrown in. Great job!
In a little over a month, I’ll only have 1 kid still in the single digits. I’m having trouble coming to grips with that.
It really does kind of rush by. Miah is so much more an adult than a kid at not quite 16….he even started shaving a couple of months back! Almost impossible to believe this 6’3″ giant of a teenager ever lived inside my body!
And Lise….she’s still got a lot of kid in her, but the woman is coming out more and more. It suits her.
It seems that our kids’ birthdays fall pretty close. I remember your son is very near Jeremiah.
Enjoy the birthday season. As always, July will be emotionally a see-saw for me. No way around that, so I’ll just live with it.
