“You Have Been Recalled” for WIPpet Wednesday

Welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a weekly blog hop which encourages writers to move WIPs (works-in-progress) to publication by posting excerpts related to the date. We’re led by the capable fingers and nimble mind of Emily Witt.

OK, so, a few weeks ago, I teased you all with the promise of a TnT fan fiction story.  When I asked for ideas on tone, “sassy” was the winner.

I’ve picked something I haven’t shared here before – a series of stories I’ve been wanting to pull together, revise, and offer up to the world. You’ll be my “test subjects” for this personal pet project. So, if you like what you’re reading, let me know, and there will be more….as much more as you can handle, for quite some time to come.

One word of warning, though…

It’s going to take a bit of setup before the sassiness factor kicks in, so please be patient with the Vulcanism at the beginning of the story. I promise that, once things get rolling, there’s going to be all kinds of sassy going on in this space, and, hopefully, it’ll be worth the wait, if I’ve done my job properly. =)

Here’s the standard disclaimer. I don’t own them; I don’t make money from them; I just love them, and I tell the stories they give me as well as I can.

WIPpet Math:

  • Today is March 15, 2017…the Ides of March.

  • I added the month and day: 3+1+5; for 9 sentences.

And now…. we’ve got a lot of work to do, so let’s get to it!

You Have Been Recalled”

”Greetings, Subcommander T’Pol.” Ambasador Soval shifted his focus from his book as T’Pol crossed his private study to stand before his work station.

“Ambassador, I no longer hold any rank with the High Command.” T’Pol assessed the man she stood before. His voice and face were typically composed, despite the apparent error in his words. He offered her the ta’al, and she returned his salute, still attempting to determine if there was cause for concern in his forgetting something that was a matter of both personal and public record.

“You have been recalled to active duty as of 1300 hours, this date: April 13, 2151.” If there was some significance to his use of the Terran timekeeping system, he didn’t specify what it was. Instead, he shifted the ta’al into a familial ouz’hesta. *

*An ouz’hesta is an extended paired-fingers gesture, fingertips touching or nearly so, shared between mates or close family members; intimate. When done between mates and including a full fingertip touch, it’s often the first posture indicating a desire for telerotic sharing. Some of this is canon, and some is my head-canon, based upon observation and conjecture.

    Will T’Pol accept Soval’s ouz’hesta?

    What about the recall?

What is the reason for this?

Why is Soval offering her this intimate gesture?

If you enjoyed this snippet, and want something more before next Wednesday, you can pop over to my fanfiction.net page,  or go directly to Loveuary Drabbles,  where you will find bite-sized, 100 word stories written to prompts.

Read one, all, or anywhere in between – these are the seeds of longer stories to come, and each one comes with its own tiny little twist.

And, as always, clicking the little blue froggy below will carry you on to other WIPpet offerings from our talented and diverse group of writerly folks. You can even add your own date-related excerpt if you’re so inclined!

      • OK, I know – it’s taken me a LONG time to get back to this comment! So sorry, but happy you’re enjoying, Amy!
