Building From Deep Places: February 8, 2017

Hey there!

I’ve been delving deeply this week – a lot of reading, a lot of plotting, some deep conversation online and in person, and digging into some too-long-neglected corners of our home…

I don’t have a lot to say, really, except that I’m simmering like a rich stew, and I know that something wonderful is about to bubble up.

That said, let’s get to the update, so I can get back to the simmering!

Have you ever felt this way – like you were just waiting for whatever’s inside to break the surface?

  • Kifo Island: Write 5,000 words/week The Far Shore (KIC #6), until complete. Primary goal. Scene 21/24 in progress. 1,571/5,000 words; 58,487/~65,000 total.

  • Fan Fiction: Draft one new chapter each for “Cowled”  and Love and Loss. Side goal. I’m using my #Loveuary posts to explore the LAL arc, in preparation for writing.

  • Rose and Jeremy novella: Complete Planning/plotting of “Tuesday Afternoon Tea” using The Story Toolkit and existing notes. Develop one-paragraph sketches for remaining 3-5 stories. Primary goal. Printed the remainder of the worksheets; Subplot Arc 1/ 2; p. 4/7 in progress; step 10/22. Fleshing out ideas for the paragraphs as I go; I now have a sense of them all.

  • Kifo Island: Flesh out AeonTimeline. File remaining/new series bible materials. Complete steps 1-8 of The Story Toolkit for April novel. Secondary goal. Printed the relevant worksheets; completed Initial Concept; 1/8.

  • The IDIC Romance: Progress with revisions for On Any Tuesday Night (was First Contact, With Jazz), as I work through lessons 2-5 of Holly Lisle’s Revision Course. Continue revisions for A Backdrop of Stars 1-7; Revise January Chapters of “Arachnid Nebula”  and “A Beagle’s Bedside Manner”;  1 chapter each. Primary goal. I organized materials, reviewed where I was when I set OATN aside, and decided what to do this week. Finally dove back in; completed Sascha’s, and Silas’ Main Character Re-Focus worksheets; Orin’s in progress. 1/4.

  • A Splash of Red”: Continue working with Jaz on cover art; finalize and begin working on front/back matter checklists. Chatted with Jaz, and had an inspiration.

  • Blog Hops: #Loveuary : Write a daily drabble focused on the next chapters of Love and Loss, using a prompt pool from my fans (yes, you can help!); visit other posters as I can. #atozchallenge: Sign up for the challenge and complete any loose ends and unfinished businessby the end of the month, all posts should be finished and scheduled (to both website and blog). Primary goal. #Loveuary Drabbles: 7/28 complete; #atoz: There’s no sign-up this year, so that’s taken care of.

  • Blogging Features: Continue biweekly Mindful Monday posts, as well as weekly #SoCS, #8sunday, WIPpet Wednesday, and Weekend Coffee share posts. Add biweekly SkyWatch Friday posts. Develop rough schedule to pre-produce April posts. Secondary goal. Simmering ideas for Mindful and Skywatch; also pre-production schedule, which I’ll firm up once I’ve finished my A to Z posts.

  • Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Secondary goal. plans to see Allegiance with my son, and Welcome to Night Vale Live Show with my daughter.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly, in person and online; participate actively in critique group. Tertiary goal. Attended write-in. Hihlighted crit 1/2 in the queue; both in progress.

  1. I know that simmering feeling all too well. I rather like it… though sometimes I do get frustrated at the seeming lack of forward momentum on the “to do list”. Savor the building energy it brings. As you say… something wonderful is about to burst forth.

    • It’s been a good week, and a good months, for writing-things. And I’m so glad that I decided to do these drabbles; I’m having so much fun, I think I’ll do more of them in May! =)

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
