Building Toward: January 22, 2017

Why, hello!

I’m building toward…. Something.

I don’t have all the words or ideas, just yet, but they’re coming in bits and pieces and fits and starts….here’s an early glimmer,  before we get down to the business of accounting for the writing-things I’ve been building – which seems to involve a nice foundation of green, with liberal blue accents, and just a touch of red.*

*It strikes me that this could be seen as political commentary, but it’s not!

I may have more to say by Wednesday….

  • Kifo Island: Write 5,000 words/week The Far Shore (KIC #6), until complete. Secondary goal. Scene 16/24 in progress. 5,266/5,000 words; 49,101/~65,000 total.

  • Patreon Posts – Complete January/March offerings. Tertiary goal. Completed drafts of a shortish introductory feed post, a 931 word essay and have 398 words of a flash story draft. Adapting goal: Complete items needed to launch on February 1 (offerings/bio).

  • Rose and Jeremy novella: Plan/plot Tuesday Afternoon Tea” using The Story Toolkit  and existing notes. Develop one-paragraph sketches for remaining 3-5 stories. Primary goal. Moved through 5/22 sets of worksheets (Main Character – Protagonist).Simmering Wednesday sketch.

  • The IDIC Romance/Solemates: Begin TnT fan fiction – Enterprise/TOS crossover epic timeline; place general events. Take notes and simmer future projects during timeline creation. Tertiary goal. Into 2152, with some research on the plausibility of T’Pol still being alive when Spock was growing up (FYI: Yes. She would only be 142 at his birth, which is middle-agish for Vulcans. Phew! Otherwise, a LOT of my head canon would have exploded!)

  • Kifo Island: Sea Changes: Continue rough revision for crit group; scenes 5-8. Secondary goal. Page 5/10 in progress.

  • The IDIC Romance: Progress with revisions for First Contact; With Jazz Review A Backdrop of Stars 1-3 (already posted) and revise 4-7 for posting. Tertiary goal. ABOS: Chapter 1 (page 2/4 in progress). Adapted goal: Back-burnering Chapters 4-7 until February.

  • Blog Hops: Just Jot It January Write 333 word stream of consciousness vignette for each day’s topic; complete guest posting duties as assigned. #atozchallenge: Complete any loose ends and unfinished business, move all posts to blog interface. Primary goal. #JusJoJan: 21/31 posted. #atoz: Week Two complete.

  • Blogging Features: Resume Mindful Monday: Biweekly posts on mindfulness. Find blogging/website rhythm. Secondary goal. I think I’m hitting my stride with blogging; a massive redesign and moving to the WP .blog tag are giving me some new ideas on ways to blend the blog and website more easily, for more nimble sharing of All The Things I want to share. =)

  • Website Development: Evaluate website page needs; make lists/basic sketches of new pages. Tertiary goal. Jotted a rough list of what I want to address; refining as I commit it to typeface and my laptop.

  • Blog/Website Interface: Begin duplicate posts on blog and two-way linking. Side goal complete. As mentioned above and evident all over this space, I’ve made giant strides here. If you look in the sidebar, you’ll see a link to the website, and recent posts duplicated or adapted from those that appear there. Mission accomplished, and evolving!

  • A Splash of Red”: Complete final revisions and edits/polishing passes; work with Jaz on cover art; make front/back matter checklists. Secondary goal. I have a description of the art I’d like; and I’ve mocked up a cover concept. I found this. Jotted lists; simmering.

  • Resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and kitchen. Complete three 27 thing flings each room, each week. Bedroom, living room, and bathroom: one 27 thing fling each room each week. 27 General Hometending rounds weekly. Secondary goal. Family room: 3/3; kitchen 1/3. Living room and bathroom; 1/1.General:31/27. Close, but the kitchen foiled me again!
  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all designated fiction files. Maintain Blogging/ Homeschool directories. Sort and delete excess mail Homeschooling, and Transactions in Progress folders. Tertiary goal. Reduced Homeschooling from over 300 to 36 actionable messages; Transactions from ~650 messages to 40 items I’ll want to examine/address/save.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Primary goal. Chatting; canoodling; business planning/administration; cuddling; couples workout.

  • Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Secondary goal. Tai chi Thursday.

  • Journal six mornings and three evenings each week. Meditate five mornings and two evenings weekly. Primary goal. Morning journal: 7/6; meditation: 7/5; Evening journal: 3/3; meditation: 3/2. Wahoo! I think this is the first session this month I hit or exceeded every target here!

  • Get a cumulative total of at least 90 minutes moderate physical activity 6 days weekly, and 6 hours of more strenuous activities (tai chi, swimming, hiking, cardio, weights, etc.) monthly by end of round. Secondary goal. Moderate: 6/6. Strenuous: 7/6 hours: tai chi. And the first time since I started setting “strenuous hour” goals that I’ve met it, let alone exceeded it!

Leaps of Faith:

  • Go through Publication email folder; make subcategory for marketing-related posts. Folder taken from 232 messages to 197; opened some posts and filed in bookmarks.
