The Prosperity of Presence (or is that Presents?): December 25, 2016

Hey there!

If you’re observing a holiday this week, may it dawn brightly, pass in delight, and end in soft wonder. If you’re not celebrating – well, may your day to day life bring you joy and wonder, too!

Yes, I do know that the round is officially over – but I work best with monthly goals, and a steady rhythm for accountability. Don’t worry; I am moving forward at a more relaxed pace – but I love the moving forward, and a week and a half of down time would be more like torment than rest, when I have ideas churning away in my head, so….here I am!

Most of my focus has been on planning for next year’s writing, revising, and administrative details – file sorting, holiday provisioning, hometending…and family time. I’ve also been rereading some of my existing fan fiction as I sorted and filed.

In the midst of the uncertainty in our finances…a windfall of sorts. My Accomplice realized that we were paying about twice as much for our life insurance policies as we needed to, particularly now that the children are no longer so young that they’ll be dependent upon us for many more years. So he shopped around, and found a much more affordable plan with adequate coverage, and we cashed in the existing policy’s value.

Most of the money is already earmarked, but we’ve budgeted in a few treats for everyone along the way. It will be a simple holiday, but there will also be some magic.

  • Draft my basic 2017 goals/schedule. Primary goal.  Aeon Timeline;Expanding February projects into one-sentence goal statements; 2/12 in progress. New timeline created; February goals in process; 2/12 months.


  • Philodosia”(Hamiltoninspired alternate history): Revise and print a nice copy of Scene One, “A Matter of Honor” for my daughter’s Christmas gift. Side goal. Simmering was a good idea, as this is a much improved version. I even made it a cover and a dedication, and autographed it for her. ❤

Social Media:

  • Interaction: Visit website, blog, ROW80, Albany NNWM and Yakon Village FB pages;; Twitter; Instagram; and Pinterest weekly, each site. Secondary goal. Thursday/Monday focus. Holiday and family stuff took precedence.
  • Continue in situ website design, with a focus on transitioning to it as my prime online home in 2017. Prepare countdown posts for this blog, and post with link. Post one reblog and two snippets each week. This is a Sunday/Wednesday focus. Tertiary goal. Simmering. WIPpet posted: To Sleep for Real. And second reblog in progress; and that’s as far as I got this week.


  • Complete resets/reorganizations: study, family room, and kitchen. Use the 27 Thing Fling for structure/5 each per week. Add in 25 cycles a week for random indoor/outdoor tidying/hometending. Secondary goal. Study: 3/5; Family: 1/5. Kitchen: 0/5. Indoor random; 33ish/25. More focus given to those things that would nurture the holiday spirit; I’ll get back to a more typical routine this week.

  • Personal Administration: Clean, organize, and back up all OneDrive Move to Yogical, Stuff to Look At, and The IDIC Romance files. Maintain email below 99 messages. Cull/organize Writing Stuff email folder. Tertiary goal. Stuff to Look At folder emptied and deleted. Fourth and final sort of IDIC folders complete; moved to Fiction directory. Began with 1,724 Writing Stuff messages; down to 1,350. Now that the rest of this goal is complete, I can focus on this portion.


  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Continue planning/ attending outings and at-home activities (personal and family) as desired. Primary goal. Conversation; canoodling; cuddling; nail painting; workout; dinner; music.

  • NNWM local group: Interact regularly online and in person. Secondary goal. Visited page; write-in goodness.

  • Paying it Forward: Offer promotional posts, reviews, and beta-reading for other writers. Tertiary goal. One offer of promotion on the table.



  • Journal six times each week. Meditation six mornings, and three evenings. Primary goal. 4/6 morning; 0/3 evening. Fairly well in the mornings, considering the holiday.

  • Fitness: Get a cumulative total of at least 80 minutes moderate physical activity 5 days weekly, 90 minutes 4 days weekly. Secondary goal. 80 min: 6/5; 90 min: 5/4. With the preparations, this was a simple matter.

  • Tai chi class, swimming, strength, and/or cardio training for a cumulative total of eight hours. Tertiary goal. Cardio/strength workout at Y: 3/8 hours. Got another hour here; workout with my Accomplice.

Leaps of Faith:

  • Listen: Hamilton by Ron Chernow.  Side goal. Through Chapter 7/19; 17% complete.
