This post was first written nearly a month and a half ago. Life was in a state of flux then, and, after that week, I was pulled away to other matters, and blogging took a distinct backseat. I didn’t intend to be away so long; but life is life, and now it’s the last weekend in August.
I’m ready to come back now, but, since it has been a while, and since I’m shifting to my new home here on my bright shiny new website, I decided it would be best to replay my last entry before moving on with the story next week.

It’s been a wild ride here, the last week. As I write this on Friday, it’s one week past my daughter’s twelfth birthday. Wednesday was our second child’s birthday, but since Elijah died when he was only 12 days old, it’s not the kind of birthday to celebrate; it’s more a time of reflection and remembrance…
Except that, this year, it was also the day that my Accomplice was fired from a job he’d had for nine years, because the owner of the restaurant he helped to create wanted to move in another direction, and hire his own son as chef.
We’re facing uncertainty, and looking at it as an opportunity to move in a different direction.
