Hey there, ROWers and others!
I’ve simplified my June goals (well, simplified for my wide-angle norm, anyway.)
I now post only goals I’ve interacted with in some way. That leaves space to chat with you, and I get a streamlined overview of where my energy, time, and focus were spent.
Ever feel like you’re going in seven different directions, all at once?
I launched a busy Mom week yesterday with taking my ever-growing fourteen year old son shopping for new clothes. He dislikes clothes and shoe shopping exactly as much as his sister loves it. He’s also not fond of having his picture all over the internet, so you don’t see him here much these days. But spending time with just him is pretty cool. He’s half a head taller than me, with nearly three months to go before his next birthday. I can’t escape the fact that he’s very nearly grown, and my time with him as a minor is slipping away every day.
He’s quite a guy, this Gigantiboy of mine. =)
Earlier today, I took my daughter to a sleepover with a local friend. She’ll be away till Friday morning. Tomorrow, I’ll have a longer drive, meeting out-of-state friends halfway, so that my boy can celebrate a guys-only weekend with another friend. He’ll be gone till Monday.
Friday I go pick up the girl, and Sunday she’s attending my write-in with me. Monday I go back to get the boy.
Thursday night, my Accomplice and I will have the house to ourselves (well, along with an elderly dog, an ancient guinea pig, a mature cat, and a kitten.) That hasn’t happened since …well, since we didn’t HAVE children!
Somewhere in all of that, I want to finish drafting A Rising Tide – I’m on the last scene! – and begin scene plotting The Far Shore (getting close with the character work, now.) Oh, and write some fan fiction, and and and….
Mostly, though, I might be contemplating what seems to be a new, outward, independent phase of our parenting lives…
And what are your plans for this weekend?
JuNoWriMo: Plan/plot The Far Shore: 24 scenes, using The Writer’s Coloring Book. Theme page complete. All time and color mapping worksheets completed. Ubunta’s story world mandala complete; 1/3 Quincette’s in progress; 2/3. This is the last step before plotting commences. This is will be a major focus until complete – projected by Sunday.
Sea Changes (Kifo Island Chronicles #1): Continue readthrough aloud (record and listen).Rough revisions through Scene 6/24, and submit to crit group. Finished revision of Scene 2/24; submitted to group. Read Scene 3 silently, then aloud into phone. Separated and clipped hard copy of Scene 4 for next week.
FanFiction.net: Revise/organize Love and Loss and A Backdrop of Stars. Complete a revision pass “First Contact, With Jazz”, using crit group notes; submit for beta reading. LAL: Chapter 3/20 complete (explicit); “A Sweet Wild Dream.” ABOS:. “FCWJ”: Organizing a master file with original and all crit group revisions for 4/16 scenes. I’ve been working on this in quarters; I’ll continue that way, then make a final pass of the entire document before passing on to the three betas I have for it.
