Proving Chaotic: April 6, 2016

Hi there, ROWers and others!

I’d like to say that I’ve made astounding forward progress in the first two days of this round, and that all my ducks are in a ROW, so to speak…

But, like April snowstorms in upstate New York, this update is the “chaos” part of Lovely Chaos.

I’m trying not to look at available hours and things I really want to get done before our weekend adventure, because the logical part of my brain (I call it T’Pol) knows there’s a mismatch.

Then again, I work well with limited timeframes. For instance, I’m jotting this intro in my journal, thereby meeting one goal and moving another forward at the same time. My Boyo volunteered to clean the car (I mean really clean it; I’ve helped him find Armor-All and the long-lost Shop-Vac, and he even says he’s having fun!) My Accomplice cleaned up the kitchen and did some laundry.

OK, deep breath…

I listed my Round Two goals on Monday, but I like to work from a more concise monthly list. I’ll update the round goals at the end of April, May, and the round. Below are my April goals, and progress so far this month (I really don’t enjoy writing breaks, so I worked between rounds, too.)

  • Write remaining A-Z Boldly Go expansion stories. Moving along here; Trip and T’Pol have lots to say, and they aren’t the shy, retiring type. 8/26;A-F; M, and P drafted, sometimes adapting previously written material.

  • The IDIC Romance: Complete plot/pinch points for 26 stories stories, as needed to complete writing goal above. I’m deciding on a case by case basis as I go. Through T, if I choose to use them; 20/26 complete.

  • Star Trek Enterprise: Watch episodes and clips needed to complete A-Z Challenge posts. #itswritingresearch – but I’m not going to pretend this isn’t one of my favorite goals this crazy-busy month! =D

  • Keep eyes open; plan Story A Day May Kifo Island stories, purchase ebook if available before month’s end. Nothing just yet; watching.

  • Complete revisions for “Peach Liqueur Love”. Brainstorming; including possible title change.

  • The IDIC Romance: Revisions as needed to complete writing goal above. Currently revised through E; F in progress and nearing completion.

Blogging/Social Media:

  • Answer blog comments and make visits, at least every other day. With all the buzz and blogging I’m doing this month, this is important!

  • ROW80: Keep visits and updates current; draft, revise, and submit Round Two Sponsor Post. I’ve started drafting, plan to finish before I sleep.

  • Blogging From A-Z:Complete all Minioning duties in a timely manner. So far, so good! =)

  • Maintain email at below 333 messages; making good use of folders. Doing OK.

  • Answer story comments at least twice weekly. 1 /2 for this week.

  • Homeschool Administration: Complete all pending paperwork. I stalled out, but not until well after the district did. Since they aren’t going to; time for me to get the ball rolling…
  • Continue decluttering/beautification projects; in home and/or yard, five days weekly. Continue making improvements to our home and our quality of life. General maintenance; organization; decluttering. 3/5. That is about it for this week, due to travel.
  • Go through all online subscriptions; cancel those we no longer need; at least one each week. Really, I AM going to do this…starting next week!

  • Continue planning/ attending outings (personal and family) as desired. Tomorrow, the kids and I are headed to central New Jersey, with a bonus day trip to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Annalise has a birthday party/sleepover planned for later in the month.

  • NNWM local group: Attend write-ins regularly, and check in on the Facebook group as inspired. submit “Peach Liqueur Love”, and critique as possible for our small crit group. Write in at Professor Java’s; checked FB group.
  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, each week. Snuggles, conversations, canoodling, videos.
  • Complete 1 pending book review. That would be the excellent Slave Again, by Alana Terry. One will break the ice.

  • Write in Abundance, Intentions, and #onegoodcup journals seven times each week. Meditate seven times weekly. Explore one new meditative practice. Journaling 3/7; meditation: 3/7. I’ve chosen my new practice; more on that next week.

  • Tai chi practice: One class and one at-home practice each week.

  • For March: Swim twice, at least 500 meters (10 complete laps at Y pool).

  • Focus on sprints of activity daily (hometending, dancing, tai chi, walking, whatever), and more strenuous activities I enjoy, like swimming and hiking, twice monthly. Hometending sprints.
  • Read: Smart Change and Gift From the Sea. SC: 47%; GFTS: 26%

Leaps of Faith:

  • Fan fiction stuff: Offer 26 stories at 5/26 stories submitted; getting mostly good, and mostly useful, feedback. =D

  • Initial beta reading of Stained by Ashes. Not sure I can get to this during April, which is why it’s here.

  • Play with website building. This might be a good and productive distraction when I need one.

The Writing Challenge That Knows You Have a Life!

See other participants’ goals updates here!

And to prove I’m not the ONLY person who ever experienced some lovely chaos…

  1. Once again, we begin a new round with optimism and a long list! I love watching how your goals change and yet remain so well organized around categories. Maybe that’s how you get so much done . . . steady progress in all, flexibility to adjust as needed, but perseverance on what is most important. Good progress on getting that motivational sponsor article closer to done; I’m still noodling ideas around and hoping for inspiration (if not motivation). Have a truly wonderful round!

  2. You’ve got a lot of blue and green in there, despite things being a bit chaotic. And we got that snowstorm down here too.

Hope you have a nice trip.

  3. I have returned to this new round – and feel more positive as well about my writing. It always amazes me at how well organized you are about your goals and how much you accomplish. All the best!

  4. Wow! You have some awesome goals for the different areas in your life–you’re organization is ensuring you work on all parts of you and your life, well I’m envious of that! I always have things falling through the cracks somewhere or another. You’re inspiring me to work on that though! 🙂
Great job and have fun tomorrow. Can’t wait to read more about Trip and T’Pol!

    • I like to cover all the bases! =D

As my kids are getting older (14.5 and almost 12); I have a lot more free time than I used to, a few years back. I can see the day when it’ll just be my Accomplice and I again, and I want to have a writing income that’s more than an occasional small amount when that time comes.

I’m learning as I go, but the basic plan is a scaffolding of skills and learning and creation, so that, over the next few years, I will not only know how to self-publish and make more than pocket change doing so, but also have a steady stream of things to, you know, publish! =D

This month, I’m working on breaking the mental barriers against submitting by publishing 26 TnT stories at I’m getting good, mostly positive feedback and followers, and there’s a certain bolstering feeling that goes with that.

As for TnT themselves….they’ve certainly got a good ways further to go this month. Happy you’re enjoying their exploits! =)
