A Grateful Season: ROW80 Round Four Final Update

What are you grateful for?

That was the question I asked myself at the beginning of Round 4. I wanted to connect with my deeper emotions, and those things I’m grateful for that can’t be added to a shopping list – people who are beloved to me, and hold me as beloved to them. Health. Happiness. Contentment. The ability to experience the pleasures of a life lived simply. Friends who get me, expand me, challenge me. Taking another breath, and another, and another, while my heart beats. Going to sleep, and waking up again. Activity and dreams….

My intention was to take these challenges – the ones I set for myself and those life offered up as unexpected gifts – as opportunities for growth and gratefulness…and, all round, I had many chances to practice that intention.

Here’s how I did: All in all, a great round. Plotting and revision were a bit scant on progress, due to CPS  and laptop issues. Fortunately, both of those were resolved, favorably and with a minimum of pain, and life went on…gratefully.

Color-coding key:

  • Goal attained = blue with overstrike.

  • Goal in progress = green.

  • Goal-in-waiting = red.

  • Goal set aside = red with overstrike.

  • Foul Deeds Will Rise: Trueborn Weft Series #2: Complete draft. Given that I only had a modern laptop for the last week or so of the round, and my Scrivener file for this project was on the laptop…I’m happy to have reached scene 32/50 by the end of the round.

  • OctPoWriMo: Complete one poem each day; revise as possible; post. 12/31 days complete. Life took over. I do have ideas for the ones I missed, and may write them in the future…

  • The IDIC Romance: Complete 11:11 freewritings. Select and rough draft all 2016 A-Z posts. Order #StaD September stories in main Scrivener file. This, too, was reduced due to computer issues, now thankfully resolved.

  • Slow Jazz Awakening”: Complete revision plan for 16 scenes; offer to betas; polish; and submit to a fan fiction site. Pre-planning notes Scene 12/16 in progress. Goal change: Write revised Draft #3 once plan is complete. I’m not yet fast at revisions. Learning, and making progress.

  • Complete “Peach Liqueur Love” Deep Revision Exercises; beta; polish,  and submit. Exercise 2/5 in progress. Goal change: Complete Steps 2 and 3; rewrite draft in preparation for Steps 4 and 5. Very slow, almost stalled, progress.

Blogging/Social Media:

  • Publish all regular features posts; scheduling ahead as possible. Queue C and C, Mindful Monday, WIPpet, and #8sunday posts; pars of 3 for each. Post authorized reblogs at least twice monthly. Up and down progress here. Sharing really suffered in the absence of my laptop.

  • Catch up on all blog comments and visits. Not all; overall better.

  • ROW80: Keep visits and updates current. Submit Round 4 Sponsor Post.

  • Empty email inbox and tend to actionable materials. Goal addition: Empty Archives folder. Getting better at this; it’s easy on my new Fire tablet.

  • Homeschool Administration: Complete all pending paperwork. Draft IHIPs; deal with Peer Review issue from 2014-15. Goal addition: Set up Flickr portfolios for both kids. Nothing completely finished; all well underway.
  • Continue decluttering/beautification projects; in home and/or yard, five days weekly. Continue making improvements to our home and our quality of life; choose two focal areas for each working day. It was a banner round for home betterification!

  • Continue planning/ attending outings and events while taking budget and each child’s need for social time and hibernation into account. Make doctor appointments for both. Doctors’ appointments done, excepting a January vaccination follow-up for Lise. A more social round than we’ve had in a while.

  • NNWM local group: Attend write-ins regularly, and check in on the Facebook and Twitter groups as inspired. Read and critique both projects I’ve been hanging onto.
  • Complete the two beta reads I’ve had waaay too long. Progress made.

  • My beloveds: One on one time with each, doing something of value to us both, several times each week. Lots and lots of good connection!
  • Read 3 fellow author books; complete 7 reviews. Is there such a thing as book review fright?

  • Write in Intentions journal/ #onegoodcup journal, and gratitude journal and meditate seven times weekly, including one eating meditation. Explore three new meditative practices. I’ve done my journals and meditation nearly every day. Eating meditation; not so much…

  • T’ai chi practice: at home five times; class twice. Continue reading The Tai Chi Directory, and adding movements to my at-home practice. I faltered fairly early in the round, but never completely stopped.

  • Make time for physical activity six days a week; use phone app to track three time a week. Fell down a little on the phone app; did well with activity, mostly in short bursts.

Leaps of Faith:

  • This is a brand new category for me. There seem always to be things on my horizon I’m wanting to explore, but know very little about.

  • Poetry Chapbooks: Did some research; very early planning stages.

  • Website/Business blog: early brainstorming with my Accomplice.

  • Fantasy convention: Unattainable at present.

  • Fan fiction stuff: A bit of browsing and reading.

  • Self-publishing: Read The Indie Author’s Power Pack, 3 great reference books; ideas simmering.

  1. OK, I see the new ROW80 starts on January 4. I signed up for updates. I am telling you of my intent to do this because I need to tell someone or I might not do it. 🙂

  2. You go girl! Am with you on the physical activity side but have not been overly successful with it. I allow myself though to do baby steps and as long as I managed 1 one hour walk per week I am happy :-). Take care!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
