A Flurry of Gratitude: October 22, 2015

Yes, I know – I’m a day late. It’s a Life Thing.

On Tuesday, the children received a last minute invitation to a Saturday birthday party, to be held Saturday. That wouldn’t normally pose any difficulty, as we didn’t have plans and my car is once again operational, with a shiny new alternator to replace the one that just couldn’t give more than 280,000 miles…but this party is at a water park…and, in the rapid-fire shape-shifting of puberty, none of the three swimsuits Annalise owned fit her now.

It’s mid-October, in upstate New York. Stores are offering winter coats and snow gear, not swimwear. After three unsuccessful stops, we went to a sporting goods store. We found one that’s both flattering and meets her requirements for modesty.

I feel a little like a lionness who took down enough meat to feed her pride. And it only took an afternoon…

Sometimes gratitude comes in odd and frustrating packages…packages that delay things like ROW80 updates…
