The Candle and the Harmonica for #OctPoWriMo Day 20

If you love to write poetry, you love a good poetry challenge, and you are missing April’s NaPoWriMo then you are in the right place. There are now multiple Novel writing months it is past time we added another Poetry month. October is a great time to challenge poets to a poem a day for thirty one days.

This October, I’m also focusing on gratitude, so each of my poems will use the daily prompt, and deal in some way with thankfulness. Come join me on this poetic journey – and feel free to comment, or link your own poems.

I’ve been debating how to post, since I’ve been writing sporadically and out of order. I’d been hoping to go in order as much as possible – but, at this point, I think I’m just going to do the best I can to finish each new day’s poem, post it, and catch up the ones I haven’t yet written, as well as those I’ve written but not shared on this blog, as I can.

I still hope to finish the month with 31 completed and posted poems. Things have settled out in other parts of life, and, with the moon between new and full, I feel the creative surge pulsing through me. I’ve got a lot of projects in the works, and some waiting that I would love to get through…

But, just for now – NOW, the only moment we really ever have, any of us – I’m going to share this just-written poem…a slightly silly, slapdash love poem between Trip Tucker’s harmonica and T’Pol’s meditation candle.

Because Trip. And T’Pol.

This one’s a variation on the loop poem, and follows, at least in spirit, the Day 20 OctPoWriMo prompt – a love poem. I went the suggested route, and used the love note between two inanimate objects.

As always, I don’t own Trip and T’Pol. Although I own a candle and a harmonica, I don’t own theirs. Nor do I make any money from writing about them – it’s purely an act of passion I’m inviting you to be a part of! =D

The Candle and the Harmonica

You make spirits soar and dance.

Dance like the light you bring.

Bring music and lightness to life.

Life made softer by flickering shadows.

Shadows and layers in every breath.

Breath shivering on glowing bare skin.

Skin tingling at the beautiful created song.

Song of the flame reflecting in their eyes.

Eyes hazel, eyes blue, bright with feeling.

Feeling of calm and peace in your flame.

Flame he rouses, when he plays upon you

You edge my silver with golden warmth

Warmth of the wild human notes playing

Playing with candlelight that means home

Home is in your music let free

Free as your dancing light.

No candle; no harmonica.  But a rather poetic Trip monologue…and I love that!
