This week is the beginning of something a little different…I’ll be serializing and sharing my Star Trek: Enterprise flash fan fiction story, “Mission Accomplished”, in its entirety. In the interest of full disclosure, the first two lines are from a prompt; therefore not my writing.
The situation is fairly self-evident: two characters, a datapadd, and a job to do when they might rather be doing something else, instead…
“A killer is on the loose, having broken into the home of a wealthy woman and left her for dead. He absconded with a few items, then left the initials, ‘M.A.’ ” Trip lowered the padd to watch his companion.
“Is this all the information we’ve been given?” She returned his gaze over her mug of mint tea. Steam curled up, fragrant, blending with citrus, minerals and sandalwood. That said she had other ideas about how to spend the next several hours.
He was tempted to turn the padd off, and let her lure him to her quarters, where candlelight could shine in her dilated eyes, and glow softly on copper skin.
“Commander, although I find it illogical, the Captain has ordered us to ‘play along’, and I’d like to be finished as quickly as possible.”
Formal as ever…except, three days ago, she’d decided that wearing clothing in her quarters was ‘illogical and inefficient’.
Will Trip allow himself to be tempted away from duty?
Will his as-yet unnamed companion continue to ‘play along’?
And what about the mysterious “M.A. Killer”, anyway?
Come on back next week to find out!
Although I’ll admit that I was a bit stymied at first, I had a lot of fun with this prompt, which is part of the Story a Day September challenge.
And, of course, the obligatory disclaimer:
Trip, T’Pol, and Trek: None of these are mine. Can I help it if these two unlikely lovers keep insisting I tell their stories? =)
