Moving Reflections: August 16, 2015

ROWing reflectively….

Round Three is all about reflection, for me:

where I am, who I am, where I’d like to be,

and who I’d like to be when I get there.

After the in-tent-sity of Unschoolers Rock the Campground (I’ve finally gotten all the camping gear stowed -OK, somewhat haphazardly piled in the Chaos Porch until I’m up to making another surge of order happen there…), followed by exhaustion, then the scattered return to a more typical rhythm, comes….

  • Progress

  • Growth

  • Epiphanies

  • Creativity

  • And lots of words!

The forward progress, as predicted, is piling up, like the storm clouds on these dog day afternoons, or the snowflakes last winter – do you remember last winter? The one that went from December into May, and which we were incredibly lucky enough to get a ten-day Oregon intermission from, because yours truly was smart enough to have a Left Coast guy want to be her Accomplice in Mischief?

If you don’t, don’t worry – I have pictures…pictures guaranteed to cool you down a bit on even the hottest August afternoon!

Subarus in the Snow!

And now, my week so far….

She loves a snowy day!

  1. I’m just ring to enjoy what’s left of summer…it’ll be winter before too long. Sigh!

Getting on the wagon after a weekend off myself! 🙂

  2. Because you mention it I got a copy of Rock Your Plot. I’m just starting the read, but it is interesting. Looks like you are making significant progress. Good luck from a ROW80 blog hopping friend.

  3. We’ve had our first warm weather this summer here in the Northwoods. Temperatures close to 90 with high humidity. When anyone complains about the heat I just want to smack them, because I do not, not, not want it to be cold again. Ever.

You always have such a long and organized list of goals that it leaves me awestruck. Best wishes for another productive week.

    • Chris, you absolutely have my blessing to look past the snow pictures!

The coldest I’ve ever been was during the winter of 2000-2001, when we were working in Yellowstone, and I was newly pregnant. We stayed for the winter season to ski, snowshoe, and do all the cool winter stuff…but I was sick, exhausted, overworked – and we did NONE of it! It was its own kind of misery, and makes me much more tolerant than I used to be of upstate New York winters (not that I’m going to mind moving to Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where it seldom snows, and even less seldom stays….).

My mind and life work best with many options. I’ve always been this way, and I’ve learned not to fight it. My organization, such as it is, mostly just comes from respecting my reality, and learning as I go (If you looked back to my earliest, 2012 updates, they were a lot less organized, and lacked a lot of the focus I’ve developed since. I’d like to think that, looking back on this one in three years, I could say the same…because that will mean that I’m still growing and learning as I go).

Today’s been more about connecting and conversing with my growing up kids, marveling at what’s in their heads and their hearts, and puttering with this and that. I’m about to do my early t’ai chi, then tend to a couple of quick things before watching “Similitude”, a favorite Enterprise episode with all kinds of ethical and emotional considerations, with one or both kids. Then it’ll be time to start pulling things together for my writing group tonight.

My your week be filled with all the things that make you happiest! =)

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
