Apres Camping: August 5, 2015

ROWing on into the calmer waters of August….

Round Three is all about reflection, for me: where I am, who I am, where I’d like to be, and who I’d like to be when I get there…and now it’s August, and time for a goals reset…

I don’t have much to say beyond that Unschoolers Rock the Campground was a wonderful whirlwind, and consumed most of my focus Thursday- Sunday. We had no Internet, which is why I didn’t post a Sunday update.

I’m still recuperating, catching up on laundry, lost sleep, and temporarily abandoned projects, and it may take most of this week to feel as though I’m on something of an even keel again…

Do I regret it?

Not at all!

Here’s what I’ve been up to, other than camping…

  1. Sounds like you had a good time camping! I feel like I have so few days in August, so I am trying to go and do things before Labour Day (my summer cut off day). Just did the Ren Faire in Sterling yesterday (pictures to come).

Goals are coming, feeling more consistent with writing and editing. Good overall! Let’s keep it going, Lady! huzzah!!

    • LOVE Sterling! We went last year, and when the kids were 5 and not quite 8. I haven’t edited last year’s pictures (Yeah, I know!). I hope you had fun, and happy that you’re making progress… even if I’m abysmally slow at saying so. =)

  2. Oh, camping. I’m so jealous! Maybe I’ll take my boys next week – my husband’s going on a manly-man excursion to the northern Michigan wilds… so we boys going to our local state park wouldn’t be out of the question. As always, love seeing your goals and progress. You’re a dynamo. 🙂

    • I totally think you should! =)

We love camping, although being married to a chef means it’s usually just my kids and I. It’s gotten a lot easier the last year or two. Now, my son is bigger than me, and nearly 14.

We are planning an overnight trip next month, and that reminds me that I need to look into campgrounds and reservations…

A dynamo, eh? Hmmm….I tend to think it’s more that I set goals that fit well with my interests, mind, and the realities of my life….but I could live with being a dynamo, too…. =)

  3. Sounds like you had a good time camping. Good luck with your goals for this month. I’m sure you’ll achieve much as you usually do.

    • We had a lovely time. I’m putting away the rest of the gear this week; we may have a family outing in early September, and I’d like things ready to hand for that…

I’m being a bit slowed down at the moment, because I just upgraded to Windows 10….learning curve, here I come!

        • So far, so good. I’m not a big fan of Microsoft Edge, the new browser, although it’s cool that I can write and draw on it….I may play with that here and there, and it’s nifty…

So far, my favorite thing is the icon that puts all my open projects (Internet, LibreOffice, Scrivener, whatever) all on one screen, so I can toggle between. That’s a mighty handy feature for those of us who jump from project to project and tend to lose track of things here and there! =)

  4. Your camping experience sounds wonderful! You’re making good progress on your other goals, too, so good there! I can’t imagine clearing my email or OneDrive files – I’m a digital hoarder, LOL. Luckily hard drive space is cheap… 😀

    • Clearing them?! Goodness, no!

It’s more a matter of shuffling things off to other folders, as far as the emails go, and rounding up strays in OneDrive that have wandered away from their rightful homes.

Getting rid of all that treasure?! UH-uh – NOT gonna happen!

I’m right with you on the digital hoarding. =)

And yes, Unschoolers Rock the Campground is amazing. We plan for it all year, and see friends we only see once a year (or less often, even). It’s exhausting and renewing, all at once….

And this year, I got to see that my boy (the smiling blonde guy on the end, with the other smiling blonde on his back) is bigger than most everyone – a few weeks BEFORE he turns 14!

That’s kind of a trip, and I wonder how much bigger he’s going to get!

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
