Sprucing and Pruning My Nest: December 10, 2014

Wanna ROW with us?

So, how are you doing, this late winter? Here in the frozen north, we’re wrapping up a two-day storm. I’ve taken advantage of a disparity in mine and the kids’ sleep/wake cycles to get in some words, move the reports forward, and evaluate my goals buffet, pruning some branches I’m not going to get to this round.

The next few days, the kids and I will be away, so I’ll be writing more hit-or-miss until at least Monday.

  • Finish my two “hanging” WIPs.

  • Set plans for 2015 Writing.

  1. I’ve missed checking in with you. I had a bad couple of weeks, and have also missed your WIPpet contributions. I think I’m having withdrawal symptoms. I need to catch up and quick. Great work, as always. You continue to impress 🙂

  2. I hope you have a wonderful time with the kiddiddles.
Congrats on your successes … and on knowing what to set aside for now.
I think I may add “move in new ways” to my own list of fitness goals.
Have a wonderful rest of the year. TTFN
(I always enjoy it when your name falls on my To Visit list.)

    • So far, it’s been a whirlwind of gaming, doll murdering, makeovers, and reconnecting with best friends who live a state away…and that was after we had the long drive, filled with music and conversation…

Today will include ice skating with the local homeschool group, some of whom we know; and a visit from some brand-new friends.

And I’m hoping to finish this WIP draft here, this weekend, right where I started it, with my own personal patron of the arts, my sisterfriend Sylvia.

This replay was interrupted by a 5am hat fashion show, a discussion of Bruegel, Van Gogh, Picasso and Da Vinci while browsing art books, and the takedown of a full sized stuffed Emperor penguin!

I think we’re having fun, but, since I haven’t slept yet, my judgment could be a bit suspect! =D

  3. I see a lot of people talking about keeping their email inboxes clean. I got to a point where I decided that anything I’ve held longer than two weeks can be trashed. It’s worked out pretty well so far. I have folders that I move any mail that I might need later to, or better, forward them to Evernote. Seems to be working.

This is the time of year for thinking about next year, isn’t it?

    • Well, I sometimes hold things in plain sight, so that I don’t forget them…and November and NaNo had me not paying much attention to the inbox at all, as I wrote 167K+ words.

So now is the time to catch up on that, and comments, and visits, since I’m just about down to the last three chapters of this monster of a novel! =)

    • Thanks! We’re having a middle of the night tea party. The Gregorian chants just ended, and there’s the murmur of 3 out of four children playing while two moms play online and chat.

    • Our second batch is almost gone. There will be either rain or snow or some combination thereof on Christmas Eve…

Yup, I’m definitely moving forward. Never quite as swiftly and smoothly as I would like, but,,,that’s life.

May your Christmas be merry! =D

      • We still just have barely more than a dusting. Of course, it’s supposed to snow Christmas Eve/Christmas. So husband may have to plow. He had to last year on Christmas Eve and still made it home before the kids got up though.
