Creative Delving : ROW80 Update, 6/25/14

Well, hello there, and welcome to the final ROW80 midweek update of Round 2!

Ever look back at your last weeks, and find such a whirlwind of creativity that it spins your head a little?

Yup, that’s this round, for me. I delved two nascent ideas: the idea of a hospice resort in April’s Kifo Island Chronicles, and finally gave Trip and T’Pol my full attention in May’s The IDIC Romance.

In April and June, I moved forward with my Trueborn Weft Series fantasy WIP, The Stars are Fire.

I might try adding up all the words I’ve written this round, at some point…or I might not. While I’m pretty sure it’s staggering, it’s really not the point. The goal was creative exploration, and the honing of my craft. It was delving into myself, going deep, growing and evolving.

That’s a huge part of why I write – to discover myself, and to connect honestly with others. To give the daydreams that possess me space and breathe life into them that I can share with others, and maybe entertain, intrigue, provoke…

I write to learn who and what I am, and to become more of myself. To learn how to be a better version of me.

It’s been a big round, and there are revelations beginning to break my surfaces. I’m not quite ready to reveal them – like icebergs, they’re still mostly submerged, and I’ve learned to wait for the time when they burst forth on their own.

Do you find that your creative surges lead to revelations and epiphanies of a more personal nature?

I’ll be posting a full-round assessment on Sunday. For today, I’m focusing on what happened this June:

  • During my moderately strenuous workout on Tuesday, I had a bit of an epiphany regarding these goals. I’m beginning to formulate that into an actual plan; more on that for Round 3.

Sponsor Visits:

How did the other ROWers ROW?

Okay, hopefully, my icerberg is not as titanically disastrous as this…

  1. I think the purpose of art is to discover ourselves–whether we’re the one making art or experiencing it as a reader, audience member, etc. I definitely feel most like myself when I’m consistently creating.

You said, “I write to learn who and what I am, and to become more of myself. To learn how to be a better version of me.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. 🙂

    • Denise,

I find it really cool who often what you write resonates with me- in your blog, and when you comment here, too. That first paragraph – BINGO! =)

  2. Forgot to answer the question! Yeah, I’ve had several revelations about myself while in a creative surge. It’s interesting how that works. 😉

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
