Weaving Beyond 75K – NaNoROW80 Update 11/18/13

Here we are, to Sunday again…and time to make a ROW80 accounting. And, since it is November, it’s also a NaNoWriMo accounting, too. (OK, it took an extra day to finish the accounting process.)

It’s been a few days of intense writing and family connection. I’m in the slack tide of my creativity…which means that I am about equally involved in input and output.

That’s meant a lot of PBS – since the fiftieth anniversary of President Kennedy‘s assassination is almost upon us, I’ve learned a lot about his life and death, which have been part of my life, all my life- my mother is an avid fan.

That’s led to some story revelations, and a more reflective space.

It’s also meant writing some emotionally profound telerotic scenes, and other vivid conflict and interaction scenes, too…while using my Kindle to play and replay Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I take my fan fiction very seriously; my two telepathic characters’ inner connection has to be supported by the actual movie footage, or it won’t work. I want this to be a deeper version of all the movie’s loose ends and suggestions, and to seem a very plausible version of events.

I’m over 75,000 words now – almost to 80,000. Sunday, I took most of the day off – I went to bed after finishing an intense telerotic scene that also contained a lot of action and other conflict. The rest of the day has been about sleeping, family connection, and blogging. I felt like I needed a little space after that scene;I expect to write another, though, before I sleep.

How’s life been treating you?

Buffet Goals Sampled:

Blogging:

Focus points:

  • Offering a sustainable schedule of features.

Maintain four non-ROW80 posts weekly, throughout the round. On target.

  • A bit better. Three posts this week:

Keep up with comments; or post an explanation. I tend to lose track when I am especially creation-focused. Target attained!

  • Caught up in a reasonably timely manner.

Writing:

Focus points:

  • NaNo Planning

  • NaNo Drafting

King of Shreds and Patches – Complete ~ 100,000 word draft during NaNoWriMo 2013. On target.

  • Completed Scenes: 37/60. Almost two-thirds done! =)

  • Word Count: 78,335/ ~100,000. Over three-quarters done! =)

  • I will be adjusting word count goal as I reach the final scenes. Projecting 120K-130K words.

And to wrap up the prepping phase:

Chart vital stats for each scene: (the old whowhatwherewhenwhyhow). On target.

  • 43/60 scenes completed. One sixth done!

Set up scenes in Scrivener. On target.

  • 42/60 scenes set up. Over two-thirds done!

Double check all notes and prep for consistency. On target.

  • 43/60 scenes completed. Almost three-quarters done!

  • Making tweaks and changes as I move through the process of creating my”cheat sheets” for each scene. Still not as many or as dramatic as in previous NaNos.

Hometending:

Focus point:

  • Tidying and beautifying my physical, virtual, and interior spaces.

Keep email inbox clear. Check at least twice weekly; sort, file, and delete each time. Target attained!

  • Still good, although I slipped a little this week.

Keep Spam folder clear. Check at least twice weekly; sort, file, and delete each time.Target attained!

  • Yup!

Prepwork for homeschooling reports, due 12/15. On target.

  • Although on tangentially connected, the district finally sent the months-overdue info packet, and I submitted the childrens’ IHIPs on Friday afternoon.

  • This will become top priority after NaNo.

Lifetending:

Focus points:

  • Relationships.

  • Exercise and Movement.

  • Passions.

Make time and sweetness for Jim, in ways that are meaningful to us both, and in ways that are important to him. Target attained!

  • Yes – a focus on gentle and engaged time together, and some planning, dreaming ,and romancing.

Do the same for the children, individually and together. Target attained!

  • Lots of time with both and each; conversation, cooperation, honesty, and celebrating growth.

  • Spent an hour exploring the new car with them.

Immerse myself in writing, living, and being with my family, striving for presence. Target attained!

  • Yes, on all counts. It feels like a quiet, introspective, and yet connected, time for me. The early dark makes me pensive and a little dreamy, in our cozy home.

Practice movement daily, for at least a few minutes. Target attained!

  • Hometending, rearranging furniture, moving firewood, a little yard work.

Add a little more intention to this, and remember to move even when in long nighttime writing sessions, at least occasionally. On target.

  • A little better, but it’s been a sleepy week, and I’ve been resisting the cold the children had last week. Less movement, and more resting.

Get outside for at least a few minutes each day. Target attained!

  • I think I did. I might be lying. It’s NaNo!

Allow time and space to indulge my passions. Target attained!

  • Yup. That’s pretty much all I’ve done, unless I was supporting someone else’s!

Read, comment, and share others’ posts and links. Target attained!

Tend sponsor duties promptly. Target attained!

Peep in on other ROWers! =D

    • Raelyn,

I do like to play with lots of different things! My mind craves diversity.

So far this session, the NaNo has definitely been the moving force and main course.

Sometimes I exhaust myself, too. =)

Take a chance! Type something in this box, and see what happens! =D
