I Like To: Final Round 3 ROW80 Update, September 18, 2013

Curious? Click the icon!

What is ROW80, you ask? Why, it’s Kait Nolan‘s baby, The Writing Challenge that Knows You Have a Life!

How do you feel, at the end of something that challenged and delighted you?

This is the last update of the round. There will be a break, now, until the next round starts on October 7.

It’s a breather, a time to assess, to move some of my long-term goals forward, and to set my intentions for the next round, the rest of the year, and beyond.

So, while I won’t be posting updates for a bit, I will be writing, and I will be focused on my goals.

Because I’m not just a writer for 80 days at a time, 4 times a year.

I am a writer, always.

There’ll also be a lessening of intensity, a restful lull where I indulge myself and those I love. Where I refill, refresh, and renew. Where I allow fantasies and reality to blend, and make room for the magical parts of writing to happen, and mostly keep my progress to myself.

I’ll have a little more time to pose for silly photos….

I also still have some dishes on my personal buffet, and so I will be free to sample as I choose…

  • During the break, I will be tidying up the buffet table, indulging, and considering Round 4 offerings. Bon appetit!

    • Shah,

I love beards. I love blue. That blue beard? LOVE LOVE LOVE it, and that guy wearing it. It makes me happy that my shirt and his beard went so well together – an unplanned benefit!

As for that video – Men at Work was a HUGE part of my life when I was 13-15 or so. Yet another passion I was introduced to by Eden =). I just recently bought Contraband for my Kindle, and there were so many memories there, I cried!

So far, my break has been:

reading 52 pages of Death in Yellowstone aloud to the kids, because Lise was looking at the baby books, and we got talking about Jim’s and my Yellowstone days, and, when I mentioned the book, she braved the office bookshelves -she’s a daring girl!- and found it. I read from about 4am to 10am!

getting in an extra workout while the kids tried out the Y’s Prime Time program, where they messed around with basketball games and skills. Then Lise had a short swim while Miah, who is now, at 12, at last allowed to roam the Y freely, reveled in the new independence, going to the track by himself.

completing one beta-reading, and finishing the first readthrough for another.

starting several blogposts, and a shower that gave me ideas for at least 3 more!

      WIP writing

Reading WIP for editing (I should be ready to start that when I finish the second beta reading…

Today, I will be blogging, reading, hometending, and possibly mowing the front lawn…

I guess I’m not much for taking breaks, although I do slow down….

Enjoy the downtime. I hope Round 4 finds you in a peaceful, balanced place. You deserve nothing less! =D
